Penny & Moat is a tool for valuing companies. This page says what it keeps about you, who else touches that data, and how to take it back. You can use the calculator without an account, and in that case none of this reaches us: your work stays in your own browser.
What we keep when you have an account
- Your email address, and your password as a salted one-way hash. We can't read your password.
- What you choose to save: valuations and thesis notes, your portfolio holdings, alert settings, and screener and compare settings.
- Daily snapshots of your portfolio's value, used for the performance chart.
- Share links you create. A share link is public: anyone who has the link can open that snapshot until you remove it.
- Your network address for a short time, only to limit sign-in attempts and abuse.
What we don't do
- No ads, no advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics scripts.
- We don't sell your data or share it for marketing.
- We use one cookie, a sign-in session cookie, and your browser's local storage to remember your work on your own device.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores account data in its database.
- Finnhub supplies market data. The tickers you look up are sent to it, never your email. Company logos are loaded from its servers.
- TradingView provides the price chart. The chart loads from TradingView and may set its own cookies.
- Resend delivers email (password resets and alerts you turn on). It receives your email address and the message.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces.
Your choices
- Download your data: in your account window, choose Download my data.
- Delete your account: in the same window, choose Delete account. It removes your account, saved data, share links and portfolio history from our database. Backups of the database may keep copies briefly.
- Turn email alerts off any time in the account window.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and sign-in attempts are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure, so use a password you don't use anywhere else.
Children
Penny & Moat isn't meant for children under 16.
